Computer generated analysis of orders for Controlled Substances is designed to compare new orders with the history of orders for a specific product, for a specific customer, and for the designated ship-to location.
SOMLinkTM, developed by e-SupplyLink, automatically reviews all incoming orders in a Wholesale Distributors’ financial/ERP system to identify and place on hold those orders having a substantial deviation in order size, frequency, or pattern according to DEA guidelines (21 CFR 1301.74b).
But what if there is no history? How does statistical analysis evaluate orders from fist-time buyers, or new ship-to locations?
Developers of SOMLink have anticipated the need to process “no history” orders in a manner that is both expedient and consistent with industry standards for best practices. Based on registrant suppliers’ extensive experience with “Know Your Customer” research and verification techniques, SOMLink users will be able to establish a first-time maximum quantity threshold for “no history” orders.
Arbitrary thresholds for quantity are used independent of statistical analysis for the first two “no history” orders. Beginning with the third order, SOMLink begins to apply relevant analysis of order history from a battery of 16 analytic tests. As additional orders are processed, SOMLink collects data to analyze order pattern and order frequency.
