DEA Suspends Sunrise License

A Sunrise company surrendered its license to sell narcotic medications after a federal agency accused it of improperly supplying painkillers to South Florida clinics, officials said Monday.

DEA Accuses Sunrise Company of Supplying Oxycodone to ‘pill mills’

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration suspended Sunrise Wholesale Inc. from selling controlled substances on June 10, saying in an order that the company had supplied excessive amounts of the narcotic painkiller oxycodone to so-called pill mills operating in questionable ways.

Controlled Substance Registrants are required to place on hold, investigate, and disclose to the DEA all suspicious ORDERS of controlled sustances; NOT suspicious SALES after the fact.

SAAS Upswing and Harvard Drug Suspension

The article centers around the three large deals involving EDI companies in June: IBM’s purchase of Sterling Commerce, The Inovis and GXS merger, and the IPO of SPS Commerce.

Reason 1001 to have a Suspicious Order Monitoring application in place:
Harvard Drug Group has controlled substance license suspended. Their license was suspended on June 15, but in an agreement worked out with the DEA they can begin shipping class 3 – 5 narcotics. Their license for stronger class 2 narcotics is still suspended.
